Heather Tom opens up about what fans can expect in the wake of Katie Logan's kidney transplant on The Bold and the Beautiful, including whether or not the character can forgive her unexpected organ donor/rival, Flo (Katrina Bowden).

Well, hot damn! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, The Bold and the Beautiful is bringing an outside CBS Daytime family member to its table: The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood, who is set to reprise her role as Emmy, executive assistant to "Dollar" Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), just before Turkey Day.

Tom recently spoke with Parade and revealed that her "proud, stubborn" alter ego definitely would have had a few choice words for Flo had she had known ahead of time that the kidney would be coming from her.

"Katie did not know that it was Flo until it was actually too late for her to say anything. I guess when you're faced with like, 'Okay, if I don't take this from this person, I'm going to die,' that changes the equation sometimes," she says. "But I think Katie also is a proud, stubborn person sometimes, so it might have been something that she would've had to have been convinced of."

Tom continues, "I think, ultimately, the only thing she could feel at that point would be gratitude because basically Flo gave her, her life back and her life with her son back. It was almost like it was an extension of her brother [Storm Logan, William DeVry, who gave Katie his heart]. Her brother gave his life so that Katie could live. It is also important for her and for him that she doesn't waste that life. It's dictated the way she lives her life. And now her brother's kind of saving her again, because of this child that he had who is able to give her that gift all over again."

Of course, the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not Katie will be able to forgive Flo for her dastardly kidnapping deeds now that it's been revealed that she was Katie's organ donor.

"I think what Katie can say is, 'Well, I don't have to forget what happened, but I can forgive you and move forward.' I think that is where she can go with it," Tom surmises. "Whether it's okay for others, whether it's enough for others, remains to be seen, but I think that for Katie she's willing to say, 'You know what? I get to live, so I think I can forgive you for what happened.'"

As for the kidney storyline overall, Tom says, "The Bold and the Beautiful is really good about telling stories that have a bigger message. [Executive producer] Brad [Bell] focuses a lot on things that people can get information from, or learn from, or can relate to on a larger scale. I think it's great that we can tell a story like this and he did a really lovely job with it. It was dramatic, it really fed the story that was on the show at the time, and yet at the same time, it brought to light an issue that we should continue to talk about. I think people don't always think about it until they're watching a show and they're like, 'Oh, yeah. Okay, well maybe I should be an organ donor.' I think that that's something that our show really does well and I always like being part of it."
