A casting director's main job function is to find just the right person for each role on the show. Can you imagine someone other than Eric Braeden playing the part of The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman? That's an example of how casting - and the work of a talented performer - can really make a character come to life.
Not every role, however, lends itself so easily to casting.
The Young and the Restless has again decided to recast the role of Daniel Romalotti - and no one is saying why.
Cam Gigandet, who debuted earlier this year as Daniel, has been dropped from the show. He last airs on April 28th. A spokesperson for The Young and the Restless had no formal comment on Gigandet's ouster.
Gigandet's replacement, Owen Beckman - who as this article was being written had not yet seen his first airdate - has also been yanked from the part. Beckman is expected to appear for no more than two weeks on-screen. First and final airdates were not released by CBS.
There is no immediate word on a possible recast, though some insiders are buzzing that the show has been in talks with a "big name" star to assume the role. The star was said to only have become available for the part after Beckman was already signed to appear on the show.
