In a lengthy post on his Facebook page, The Young and the Restless' Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) spoke out against the behind-the-scenes drama that has, at times, overshadowed the top-rated daytime drama. The Emmy-winning actor compared the explosive, uninformed response to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
"What does anyone on the periphery of this whole episode really know?" St. John asked. "We know each other, our families, and the show intimately. We have struggled through the good and the bad, professionally, and personally.... To think that these professional, honest, hard working people are trying to deceive, cover up, misguide or misdirect the public in ANY way is blasphemous, and simply not true."
St. John did not mention Michael Muhney or the allegations of his impropriety in his 2,583-word post. Instead, he referenced long-time Y&R vets Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor), Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), and Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), who he praised as having been "committed and dedicated MOST of their lives to bring a complex, colorful story to life every day, 52 weeks a year, for 40 years."
After prefacing his post with the words "I come in peace," St. John implored fans to "STOP THE HURT, HEAL THE WOUNDED, EMBRACE THOSE THAT NEED LOVE AND COMFORT."
He went on to say that The Young and the Restless' cast of performers and the backstage crew "WANT THIS TO END AS MUCH AS THE FANS DO. But I'll be damned if I allow a FEW OF THE MANY THAT HAVE HELPED TO CONSTRUCT THE HOUSE THAT WILLIAM BELL SR. built, along with his precious wife LEE PHILLIP BELL, with THEIR own hands, from the ground up, to BULLY ME, SCARE ME OR MY FAMILY, AND IMPEDE MY PROGRESS IN THIS ONLY LIFE THAT I/WE HAVE."
